Works, power supply via USB cable

Works as it should. I was unsure from the 2nd image of Digitec, on which an additional power connector is to be seen. However, this is not present in the delivered product and therefore meets my expectations. The power supply is ensured via the supplied USB-C Type C (running value) to Type A (PC). In addition, a Type C to Type A adapter is included. Desirable would have been from my point of view a Type C cable and an adapter to Type A.
On my iMac and MacBook Pro, however, the drive works right away and thus meets the expectations. Wonderful.

    Since one week LibreDrive Compatible!

The Verbatim Slimline (a Pioneer drive) is since 1 week finally LibreDrive/MakeMKV compatible and the region/copy protection of Blurays can be bypassed, and also without having to change the firmware as with LG/ASUS Friendly/Official UHD drives. The drive is also quiet and Linux compatible.

    Pro

    • LibreDrive/MakeMKV Compatible
    • No need to change firmware like LG/ASUS
    • Quiet and reliable
    • Linux Compatible

    Very good external Blu-ray drive

After my old Blu-ray drive produced many read errors and no longer recognised some discs at all, it was time for a replacement. The Verbatim recorder (internally a Pioneer BD-RW BDR-UD04 drive) filled the gap perfectly, all tested silver discs were recognised and read without any errors. I haven't looked at the write quality yet, as I rarely need it.

The only negative thing I noticed was the volume when a BD is read at six times the speed; the drive is clearly audible and louder than its predecessor, which, however, only read at just over twice the speed. Physics takes its toll here.

    Pro

    • Compact
    • Fast
    • No extra power supply unit required
    • Reads and writes all discs up to UHD Blu-Ray

    Contra

    • somewhat loud at full speed
