Several broadband intensive applications can thus be used wirelessly and in parallel - at speeds of up to 866 MBit/s (5 GHz) and 400 MBit/s (2.4 GHz). As a WLAN router without an integrated modem, the FRITZ!Box 4040 becomes a flexible all-rounder in every home network and at all Internet access points. The FRITZ!Box 4040 brings powerful WLAN AC + N, 4 ultra-fast Gigabit ports, 2 USB interfaces (USB 3.0 and 2.0) to an existing modem or network, thus enabling sophisticated networking scenarios. The FRITZ!Box 4040 offers the versatile FRITZ!OS, which provides the usual FRITZ! functions and comfort features. These include child safety, guest access, car channel, home network overview, the MyFRITZ! service, NAS functionality, versatile FRITZ! apps, continuous updates and much more. As a media and data centre with NAS functionality, the FRITZ! box manages connected USB memories and makes the contents available in the home network. A media server provides the platform for networked applications such as IPTV, video on demand or media streaming. Stored films, music and pictures are available throughout the network and can be distributed to playback devices via smartphone and FRITZ!App Media, for example.
