Nowadays, many devices have an embedded computer board built in. This is often a small LINUX computer that has to be connected to a keyboard, mouse and computer monitor every now and then, for example for upgrading. This is annoying, time-consuming and results in cable clutter. The ATEN CV211 connects the periphrial ports of the computer to a laptop, whose controls can then be used to operate the LINUX computer (console function). This is practical, saves time and effort and hardware. It's just a pity that there is no model that has a direct HDMI connection, because you usually have to connect a VGA-HDMI adapter, which is actually an unnecessary inconvenience (because who still has VGA today!?).
