    Best "Ready2Fly" drone

The DJI Mavic Pro is a drone of very high quality. It does what DJI promises. Controller and also the drone have an active cooler.

Videos need little to no post processing. Requires a bit of practice with the controller
and all the video/camera controls in the DJI-GO app at first.

The drone flies extremely stable, shoots very steady with the 4K camera and gimbal. The Obstacle Avoidence system detects even small branches and objects thanks to the versch. Sensors even small branches and objects. However, sensors no longer work reliably in the dark. In sport mode, it reaches the speed of 60km/h after 10-20 meters. The camera cover slightly deteriorates the recordings and is recommended to be removed.

The only limitation is the coverage (Channel EEC instead of OUCS; about 20-40%) in the EU and CH. All in all, in my experience it is the best "Ready2Fly" drone on the market. Included is a charger+CH plug, battery, drone and 2x spare propellers. The battery is charged in about 1h and 20min and can hold about 20min in reality.

I recommend the drone, you get a lot for the money. However, Dji needs to fix some software deficiencies.

First of all, the drone is worth every franc. Flying with it and taking pictures is a lot of fun. The pictures taken are razor-sharp and the camera works in almost every situation, even with backlighting. In the dark, or at dusk, the weaknesses become apparent: the pictures appear very blurred and somewhat blurred, but the drone and the camera can be forgiven for this.

The scope of delivery is relatively large. In addition to the drone and the controller, you get two replacement propellers and various cables for iPhone and Android phones (USB-C and Micro-USB). Therefore, the whole thing comes in a valuable cardboard box. The drone itself is of first-class workmanship, which is also noticeable in the weight of around 750g.

The handling of the drone is very easy, you are well guided by the app to be loaded "Dji Go". The drone is in the air in about 2-3 minutes, assuming good flying conditions. The control itself is also simple, so you don't have to take a course first.

There are some drawbacks with the obstacle sensors and the operation in certain situations. One fine Saturday afternoon, my drone simply initiated the landing procedure on its own, which resulted in the total loss of my drone. The drone apparently switches off all obstacle sensors during the landing manoeuvre, which was disastrous in my case. Dji really needs to correct this in the software.

Super hardware, fails as so often with the app

The drone is absolutely fascinating hardware-wise, super practical to take along, and shoots not bad quality at all. I don't trust the plastic housing that much, but it's also optimised for weight and not impact resistance.

    The
app, on the other hand, is a disaster. I've had the app crash during several flights. Fortunately, the drone can be controlled without a mobile phone, but it's not that much fun without a live image...
For a while, I couldn't even open the app because it was already stuck on the start screen. The situation only improved for me (on Galaxy Note 4) when I deactivated the caching of the recording on the mobile phone. To do this, I first had to uninstall the app, delete all DJI folders on the phone, reinstall the app, and deactivate the "Cache Locally when Recording" option before the first recording. This way, the recording was not saved on the phone immediately after landing, but only on the MicroSD, but it greatly reduced the number of app crashes for me. This was already a known problem with the previous version of the app in 2015. I am shocked that this has still not been fixed.

Still, 4 stars because a workaround exists and, as I said, the hardware is great!
