An annoying ticking noise when switched off

Some of the units (apparently not all) produce an annoying ticking noise when switched off. This makes it impossible to use the SC-P600 in a quiet room. Comment from EPSON (Ref No-2265-EN-4697814-12):

    "This is not a technical
    defect that can be repaired.
If you want to avoid this noise, you can disconnect the machine completely from the power supply. However, the machine will then always perform a print head cleaning when it is switched on."

EPSON even seem to be making money out of this fault by offering a "solution" that wastes ink at a considerable rate! Really embarrassing!

    Pro

    • Good print quality but high costs

    Contra

    • Enormous ink consumption when switching from black gloss to matt. Unreliable paper feed
    • Cannot be operated in a quiet office or living room due to annoying ticking noise
  • Everlasting

I have had the device for a fortnight now and am completely satisfied.
With the Epson Premium Glossy papers, the printer makes extremely good prints, the quality is TOP.
Setting up the printer was really easy. The Wi-Fi
connection went quickly and without any problems, as did the initialisation of the printer.
I was surprised that the print actually came out of the printer exactly as I had processed it on my calibrated screen. No colour calibration of the printer was necessary, it was exactly the same as the colour profiles used by the printer.

Borderless printing works extremely well, as well as with a 3mm or 5mm border...the lines are clean and not torn or offset...Really good quality.

The only thing that bothered me a little was that the printer didn't come with any sample paper. Since I neglected to order paper at the same time, I had to make up for this first ;) But the great printout I was rewarded with made up for it... :)

Another thing I noticed is that the printer takes quite a long time to get ready and start printing when it is supposed to do something again after two days. It seems as if it reinitialises itself every time or whatever... Well, it could also be that the cartridges supplied with the printer are initial cartridges which have to be used for the first time... It's possible that this will stop with the later cartridges, when the printer has "run in". However, it doesn't really bother me because I'm not constantly sitting next to the printer and watching it ;)

    Absolutely recommended for photos only.

It takes forever until the first sheet is printed. The longest time was 11 minutes for 1 A4 sheet.
But the photos are printed all the more beautifully for it! Really great quality!
The ink consumption is relatively high.

    Pro

    • Photo print
    • Operation
    • Institution

    Contra

    • very very slow
    • started to produce more and more errors after about 3 months.
    • Ink consumption
    • Text documents in "express mode" not usable. They look like documents printed on a dot-matrix printer.
