New unproven tech but the price is right

One of the first SSDs with new QLC technology, packing more bits than ever in each cell. Long term reliability in the field is yet to be seen (recall problems with first TLCs e.g. 840 EVO when they came out), but the price is right: half the price of older generation and backed by 5y warranty.

Comes in M.2 format with PCIe connection with blazing speeds (~2Gb/s in my testing), so long as under light loads and not full.

Great buy for any typical desktop user and small servers.

    Pro

    • Half the price of older TLC SSDs
    • M.2 form factor
    • High speed (>2Gb/s) under light loads
    • 5y warranty

    Contra

    • New non-field tested tech
    • Reportedly slows down to under 100Mb/s if full or under heavy load

    I would buy again!

Do you need an SSD for the PC? Then I recommend an M.2 rather than a 2.5-inch SSD. Because this M.2 is about 5 times faster than a 2.5 inch SSD.

    Pro

    • Quick
    • +2.2 Gbits via USB-C cable
    • Reliable

    Contra

    • Was already available at least 2 times for 89.-.
    • To be questioned in terms of price (at the time)

    • Faster than a 2.5" SSD
