Great computer with a lot of power

The small NUC has a lot of power in a small form factor. There are two things you should be aware of when buying:
    - The fan can get relatively loud under full load.
    - The hardware is extremely new, so installing Linux was
    not trivial.

The Gigabit Ethernet does not work out-of-the-box with any of the Linux distros (as of April 10, 2020) that I tested. The installed card is an Intel I219-V and the Linux kernel should be able to use the card with the e1000e driver support. But this was not the case for me. A relatively new kernel (I made it work under 5.4) and the latest e1000e version (6.0.0) from Intel directly solved the problem.
The e1000e driver had to be configured as kernel module (M) in the kernel. I could get the newest version from Intel as source and compile it. Unfortunately I had to change a header file of the driver. linux/pci-aspm.h was not present in my (5.4) Linux headers, so the import failed. I had to import pci.h instead of pci-aspm.h. The driver could then be built and loaded. With the (6.0.0) the network card works perfectly.

Wifi and Bluetooth was a lot easier with iwlwifi at the start.

    Easy with Linux

Installing Ubuntu 20.04 on this machine was the fastest and easiest install in my 25+ years of linux experience. After that everything work without problems. Digitec could include a Swiss power cable by default if they charge 10;- extra for it.

    Pro

    • Easiest install ever with Ubuntu 20.04 from an usb stick.
    • Fast. Easy. SImple.
    • Very reasonable noise levels.

    Contra

    • Despite the 10 CHF additional fee, did not actually come with a Swiss power cable.

Strong for office, okay for HTPC

If you don't demand anything graphic-intensive, it delivers excellent performance in a compact case. With the integrated IR receiver, it is well suited as an HTPC. However, high-resolution video streams and very light games are close to the limit for the integrated GPU.
The limit comes with 4k 60p Youtube and HDR option in Windows. HDR disabled, then it's just enough without losing frames.

    Pro

    • Space saving
    • Web, office, watching videos
    • 5 USB ports (2 USB-C, 1 of which is Thunderbolt)

    Contra

    • Limited graphics performance
    • No CH connector
    • Can get noisy
