FOR ALL WITH DRIVER PROBLEMS.
.NET FRAMEWORK INSTALLATION ERROR
SOLVED HERE
Here are the hurdles I had to overcome to get the configuration software running:
- The software is not included
So I googled Mad Catz and downloaded the 64.exe from the manufacturer's site and executed it.
- Error message: .NET Framework 3.5 not installed (wtf? it's already on board with Win10).
I'll spare you my learning process here, I spent about 30 minutes googling, which wasn't necessary.
ACTIVATE .NET FRAMEWORK 3.5 UNDER WINDOWS 10:
HERE IS THE SOLUTION:
Press Windows key -> type SYSTEM CONTROL.
-> Programs
-> Activate or deactivate Windows features
-> .NET Framework 3.5 <------- tick box
bang, driver installed and ...?
Here I would have expected the software to start, but nothing, not even in the tray menu. Using the start menu search, you find a Mad Catz folder that doesn't help either...
So where does an older and more experienced user look last?
Correct, on the DESKTOP *patch*.
Plug&Play is different, so 1 star off!

I was looking forward to a worthy upgrade for my old R.A.T. 7. That mouse has lasted 10 years now. However, the 8+ model feels a bit cheap in comparison. Also, the package is smaller, as now there is no storage box for the various parts with it. The software is a bit clunky and throws up a Windows warning message. And on top of that, the mouse is even more expensive than before.
All in all it's still an OK mouse, but not as outstanding as the old model.
