The 1990s called and want their picture quality back

On Windows 10, the picture quality is absolutely atrocious. Humans aren't magenta. I've tried it with a lot of light, I've tried it with directed light, nothing matters. This camera is dead set on making you look like an alien. Further, the brightness keeps changing in huge steps, from completely washed out, to complete darkness. Focus keeps seeking, too. There's no software for adjusting the picture on Windows 10 and the call button simply has no effect.

On MacOS Catalina, the picture is overexposed and completely washed out white. I've purchased third-party webcam software to alter the exposure, but it cannot set the exposure setting low enough.

This camera was released in 2012 and it is no longer supported; on the Microsoft support page the firmware update software requires Windows 7 and it does not detect the camera in Windows 10.

Microsoft doesn't care about this hardware, so neither should you. Threw it away into electronics recycling and purchased a Logitech Brio instead.

    Good image quality, modest autofocus

Visually, the camera looks really very good. On the outside, there is a beautiful brushed aluminium casing, and on top, an LED that is adapted to the curves of the camera and glows blue in operation. The other materials used can also be described as good. Unfortunately, the camera is always kind of wobbly despite the flexible mount. So it is a bit difficult to find the right position in which the camera stays.

I like the colours and also the picture quality in dark surroundings. At the highest resolution of 1280x720, the picture looks slightly blurred. It is no comparison to HD signals that you know from TV or Blu-ray. What is also noticeable is that with movements such as turning the head faster, the picture either jerks slightly or there is very clear motion blur with Skype. If you hold something close to the webcam, it takes a relatively long time until it is in focus. If you remove the object again, the autofocus stops. Only after you hold your hand in front of it and wave it around wildly does it focus on the object again.
