We've been looking for a TV that doesn't look like one for a long time - we've always disliked the dominance of black boxes in the living room. Today, "The Frame" was now delivered in the 55" version. I was still skeptical at first. The installation took quite a long time, because we wanted to do everything right and in the end see as few cables as possible.
First, it remains to point out that the part is supplied via two cables: a very thin, transparent fiber optic cable and a gray (!) Power cable. Thanks to clever placement, only about 20cm of cable is really visible in our case, the rest disappears behind a bookshelf.
Basically, the TV was intended as a picture frame, with the possibility to watch TV from time to time. And I have to say, the part really convinces. However, you definitely need an additional frame - one is not included - by default, only a thin aluminum frame is attached, which makes The Frame look like a normal TV.
The wall mount is really top and reasonably easy to install, as long as you have a 9mm drill with 6.5cm length lying around.
Once mounted, the TV can be easily aligned and there's hardly any distance between the wall and the TV. The picture is impressive - in "art mode" the whole thing really only looks like a TV at second glance - otherwise it's simply a picture frame that can display either pictures from the Samsung bar or your own. Really convincing!
But it also looks good as a TV - 4K HDR content, e.g. from Netflix, looks stunningly good, and the sound is great as well.
Basically, the TV could have been a bit smaller in my opinion - the 55" must also first still fit on the wall. The price is also not without - but you get a real look into the future and a solid performance.

I think the associated smart box could HW-mässig some more. Maybe SW updates will bring new possibilities. Presumably, however, Android-based TVs will soon offer significantly more extensive functionality (better integration into home networks).

Sure, probably the most innovative product in the television sector in recent years. In addition to the technical improvements, which there were and are constantly. But from the concept really something new. Looks great in the living room, with other picture frames around it even better. The cable (1 x optical, 1 x conventional power) fits in a thin power rail, which can also be concealed with picture frames at most. Picture quality, functionality for television absolutely on par. Sound surprisingly rich. The Art mode works perfectly. Only the brightness adjustment could have a slightly larger range. The remote control is small and functional. In Art mode, the brightness adjustment only works via app, not via remote control. Was actually of the opinion that I saw this on demo devices, however Samsung says that this only works via app.
The app is indeed in need of a lot of improvement, every now and then the connection gets lost. A slideshow mode would be helpful.
