Much too loud and especially much louder than the old 4TB Ironwolf.

I had up to now 5 Ironwolf 4TB (about 4 years old), running in my 10 year old Synology 1511+. Super quiet. Performance was right, especially with a 1Gbit cabling everything ran nice and harmonious and SILENT. With the new Synology 920+ there is no dynamic fan control anymore, so I set it to quiet, which is already audibly louder than in the old 1511. The new Ironwolf 8TB are so loud that I can still hear them roaring in the living room next door. My conclusion, if you are in the same room and want to stream a quiet movie, unbearable. In the room next door gehts if you close the door.

I can only recommend for the deaf

I replaced my Western Digital Red 4TB in a Synology DS218 with two of these disks. The NAS is in the living room. After I installed the IronWolf, the Synology became so loud that I no longer wanted to be in the living room. Extremely annoying. Also, the hard drives were very slow. A 500 MB file took 5 minutes to load. That can't be right, so maybe it's a defective hard drive. I then reinstalled my WD Red and the NAS is whisper-quiet again and needs 1 minute for a 500 MB transfer. No more Seagate IronWolf for me!
