I was skeptical about sound quality, but...

I was skeptical about the sound quality, but now very excited. The treble is a bit less clear than the wired Sennheiser I used before, but the mids are fuller and the bass range is markedly better. Overall, a coherent sound image. As already written, there is NO noise - very untypical for a wireless headphone.

The various effects are nice but not really my taste. I like good stereo better for music. SPDIF passthrough works great; so does auto on/off.
The soundstage for movies is impressive. DTS decoding works smoothly and sounds really good.

I find the SPDIF volume to be absolutely sufficient. Normally, I listen at about level 1; level 2 when it should be a bit louder. Level 4 is only bearable for a short time and I like my ears too much for anything above that (levels 5 to 10).

The headphones are lightweight and very comfortable to wear.
The sound isolation is not perfect, but as soon as music is playing from the environment is no longer much to hear - and the environment also gets nothing. :)

It is a pity that the headphones can only be charged with (included) micro USB cable. If you forget that, then at some point without warning is finished, and since the battery can not be changed, then inevitably a break must be taken.

All in all, the best wireless headphones I've ever heard.

Sony MDR-HW700DS is not up to date with the latest technology!

    ATTENTION:
The headphone Sony MDR-HW700DS is not on the latest technological level!
It is not compatible with HDCP 2.2 and therefore in my device chain (Sony UBP-X800 player, Apple TV 4K, Sony STR-DN1080 receiver and LG
    OLED65C8 TV) simply unusable.
If only one device in the chain from source to sink is not compatible with HDCP 2.2, the 4K HDR picture from the UltraHD 4K player or Apple TV 4K, for example, is simply downscaled to 1080p and SDR.
    Incredibly disappointing!
I could have thrown the money out the window and the result would have been the same.

9.1 surround sound in headphones is naturally...

9.1 surround sound in headphones is of course rubbish, but the quality and spatiality are really good. The perfect alternative if a loudspeaker version is not an option (currently the baby for us ;)

    Wearing comfort is
very pleasant - but of course you notice the headphones after a 2 hour film. But I think that can never be avoided. I think the compromise we found is quite good.

I would have liked the SPDIFF volume to be a bit louder and, despite the massive bass, the "tickle" in the stomach is of course missing - but as already mentioned, headphones simply can't do that. Despite the high price, I am totally satisfied.
In my case, the Sony MDR-HW700DS replaces a Philips SBC HD 1500 U. They can't compete with it in terms of sound and comfort. However, the reason for the replacement is a defect... Let's see if the Sony lasts longer :)
By the way, I didn't have any range problems - the system transmits into the next room without any dropouts.
It doesn't get into trouble with the WLAN either - I operate it with the auto settings and have both 2.4GHz directly next to the base station and 5GHz on the floor below.
