Fast PoE switch without 24V passive

Works well and quickly, but gets quite hot in operation. Attention: the switch is not suitable for PoE for the UniFi AP AC-LITE without an adapter (the switch supplies 48V, but the AC Lite needs 24V passive). This disturbs Ubiquiti's otherwise well-coordinated ecosystem, especially since unfortunately neither Digitec nor the manufacturer makes sufficient reference to this. The matching adapter (INS-3AF-I-G) should therefore be purchased at the same time or taken from stock by Digitec, then it will also work with the AC-LITE without any problems: digit.ec/6043200

    Pro

    • Quick
    • POE
    • Configuration via web GUI

    Contra

    • No passive 24V POE for UniFi AP AC-LITE
    • Gets quite hot

    Good

Runs so far, but as already mentioned, pretty hot. The fact that Digitec doesn't exchange the EU cables as standard is pretty annoying.

Overall, despite some disadvantages, the advantages outweigh the disadvantages and I would buy the Switch again.

Overall, the switch is well and sturdily made, but it gets VERY hot (approx. 55 degrees).
With one of the two switches I bought, there was a spark in the device when it was first connected to the power, followed by a short
circuit, which caused all the devices connected to the power to restart! - This should not happen with a switch of the Enterprise class! After that, I could no longer reproduce the situation and the switch runs perfectly.

The biggest negative point with the switch is the POE ports, which do NOT work with several UniFi POE products, for example!

It is nice that you can also use the UniFi Controller to manage devices in remote locations that are connected to a VPN, for example.
However, this is only possible without NAT and some points must be observed, which I have described at: www.tech-island.com/allgemein-de/unifi-controller-mit-geraet....

On the negative side, however, many functions require the "UniFi Security Gateway" (USG), which decorates the interface with all kinds of "warnings" if you don't have it and clutters up the web interface with many menus and settings that you can't use without the USG. Probably a marketing tactic by Ubiquiti.
In addition, there are also functions missing that you get with other switches in the same price range, such as QoS. - Admittedly, most people won't need these features and the most important ones like SNMP (monitoring), IGMP snooping, STP and VLANs are there. However, in the case of STP (Spanning Tree), this is disabled by default and would need to be configured with the correct settings.

The web GUI is also not very intuitively designed, many functions have to be configured in several different places, for example VLANs.

    Pro

    • Central Management Server (Jeodch only for Debian/ubuntu)
    • Stable processing
    • Manage all UniFi switches and APs in the same UI
    • Management also works with remote devices via VPN (WITHOUT NAT)

    Contra

    • Ice closure the first time (only for one of two switches)
    • Gets very hot (approx. 55 degrees)
    • More limited functions than other enterprise switches, e.g. no QoS
    • GUI contains many functions that require a USG
    • GUI not so intuitive
    • POE does not work with all APs/CAMs! (YES: AP-AC-Lite / AP-AC-PRO NO: AP-AC-LR / UVC G3)
