This book "Challenges and Prospects of Port and Maritime Industry in Nigeria" addresses the inefficiency of Nigerian seaport operations and the unprofessionalism in fulfilling tasks. It notes that the government has failed to properly monitor and track the activities of the maritime sector to fully meet its responsibilities, and that there is a lack of adequate funding to elevate this sector to global standards. The book also emphasizes the importance of maritime cybersecurity, as fraudulent activities are extremely prevalent in our society today. While there is still room for improvement, the current measures and laws in the maritime sector, which cover most, if not all, areas of the maritime economy, are sufficient to elevate the sector to a higher level. The author has decided to present this book to familiarize interested individuals with the practices of the port and maritime industry in Nigeria.
