Does the ANC work without the headphones being charged? I don't think so... Thanks for your inputs

No, the noise cancelling system requires power. But when the battery is empty, you can use the headphones normally without noise cancelling via the cable. By the way, the quality of the noise cancelling is rather sufficient. Compared to more expensive headphones like Bose or Sony. For the price, however, it is a luxury.
