That's not a problem either, as the rounded notches on the handle ensure a good grip. The shape of the blade guard is designed to cover the edge and the upper part of the neck. When you transport the axe on your backpack, it prevents the axe head from cutting into the backpack. An axe is only as good as its blacksmith - all axes made by Gränsfors Bruk are hand-forged. The steel used comes from Ovako and is made exclusively from recycled scrap metal. The steel used has been specifically developed for creating the perfect axe head. It is neither too hard, too soft, nor too flexible.
