The "Game of the Year" is the Oscar for board games. In 2023, "Dorfromantik" is in the running for the coveted award - according to the jury, because it takes the pressure out of everyday life.
For 44 years, the association "Game of the Year e. V." has been honouring the best board game innovations. The award consists of three categories: Game of the Year, Connoisseur Game of the Year and Children's Game of the Year. Last year's winners were Cascadia, Living Forest and Zauberberg the coveted titles.
This year, "Dorfromantik" came out on top. It is the "Game of the Year 2023". The aim of this building strategy game is to fulfil various orders from the population in a beautiful landscape.
Why did "Dorfromantik" beat the other nominees - "Next Station: London" and "Fun Facts" - prevailed? The jury gave the following reasons:
In addition to the "Game of the Year", the jury also presents an award for the "Connoisseur Game of the Year". These games are aimed more at experienced players. They are more complex and usually more time-consuming than conventional parlour games. The winner in this category was "Challengers".

Little game fans don't miss out either. Every year, the jury presents an award for the "Children's Game of the Year". The winner in this category was "Mysterium Kids".
