"Schnattergei" is the educational game of the year 2022

The Learning Game of the Year has been awarded in Germany for almost 20 years. This is only the third time that it has been an audience award, presented by the guests at the Stuttgart games fair. This year, the card game "Schnattergei" by Amigo won the prize and can call itself "Learning Game of the Year 2022". The guests at the fair were able to choose from twelve nominated games.

The reaction game by author Haim Shafir (Halli Galli) is quickly explained and even more quickly played. It is suitable for two to four people aged six and up and a game lasts on average just under a quarter of an hour. >

How to play Schnattergei

1. All players receive 25 cards .2. In turn, the players turn over one of their cards and place it on the common discard pile.
2. When discarding a card, you must name the motif that matches the colour of the discarded card: For a red card you must say "strawberry", for a blue card "elephant", for a yellow card "banana" and for a brown card "cocoa".
3. The chatterbox is a special card. If someone puts down a Schnattergei, the motif that matches the colour of the Schnattergei does not have to be named, but "chattered" after what the previous person said.
4. If the same motif is placed on the discard pile twice in a row, everyone hits the discard pile as quickly as possible. Whoever was quickest gets all the discarded cards as a prize.
5. The game ends when someone has discarded their last card and that person does not manage to win the discard pile in the same round.
6. Whoever has the most cards at the end of the game wins.
