The model Aktiv05 is designed for use in project studios and features a 1-inch silk dome tweeter and a 5-inch woofer. The output power is 60 watts, covering a frequency range of 50-20,000 Hz. Compared to the successful predecessor model nEar05, this version includes a new tweeter, and the Aktiv05 has an improved suspension as well as a completely new crossover (at 2.5 kHz). By combining the woofer with the appropriate tweeter and crossover, the ESI Aktiv05 achieves a faithful reproduction of sound.

On the back of the compact and fully magnetically shielded monitor boxes, there is an XLR and jack combo connector for balanced and unbalanced connections, as well as a control for adjusting the input level.
