No, unfortunately not. Initially it was said that this feature would come, but nothing official has been released yet. There are, however, ways to get it onto the device. But you need some technical knowledge for that. At the moment there is only Bixby...

To be able to use a non-Samsung Android phone fully with the Smartwatch, it is not enough to use the Wearable app. Galaxy Watch Plugin must also be installed.

With a multi-device SIM card, you can use the watch without a mobile to make calls and send text messages if the watch has an LTE function. It is also possible to install apps such as Strava, as the watch supports Wear OS. However, you will need a suitable SIM card or eSIM that is compatible with your device to use LTE functions.

You cannot make calls or send text messages with the Galaxy Watch4 without a paired mobile, as these functions require a connection to a smartphone. The installation of apps such as Strava is also only possible via the paired smartphone. Without a mobile phone, however, you can use NFC to make payments and display the time. Listening to music is possible if the music is stored on the watch or is played via Bluetooth headphones, provided the watch is connected to a device that plays the music.

Unfortunately, the battery life is not sufficient for this. Most smartwatches from phone manufacturers are simply miles behind. If displaying calls and messages are really the only important things for you, I think you'd be better off with a Garmin watch: e.g. the Garmin Venu 2. It displays calls and WhatsApp messages and, if you want, all the notifications that you also receive on your phone. The battery lasts 6 days for me. I run about 5 km (45 min) every day.

Is the watch compatible with a Huawei p30?

Yes, but you can use a workaround. Using the normal way documented by Samsung, you will probably get an error message that the watch is not supported. However, you should be able to connect the watch via the Samsung Health app (you will also need the Galaxy Wearable / Galaxy Watch Manager app). This is how the whole thing worked for me on the Huawei P20 Pro, I assume that it should work similarly on the P30. I can't say whether any functions are restricted, but notifications, fitness tracking, Spotify, Google Pay etc. work for me anyway.

I recommend the normal Samsung Galaxy Watch4 and not the EU model. Unfortunately, various functions are not possible with the EU model. To use the Google Assistant, I have linked you to a website with the instructions: https://www.netzwelt.de/anleitung/203943-samsung-galaxy-watch-4-google-assistant-so-installiert-nutzt-ihn.html This Watch has a built-in microphone as well as the speaker. https://www.samsung.com/de/support/mobile-devices/wie-verwende-ich-die-anruf-funktion-der-galaxy-watch/

The Samsung Galaxy Watch 4 and the Watch 4 Classic are similar in design, but the Classic model is slightly bulkier and larger and also offers a rotating bezel, while the standard model is available in more colours and has a sportier design. Unfortunately, however, we can't give any reports on usage, as we were never able to test the devices in such a form. I'll be happy to post it in the community though, maybe a user can help you out.

According to the information gathered, EU models have differences in receiving watch-specific software updates that may vary from country to country. This means that if there is a specific update for the Swiss market, European models will not receive it, and there is a limitation of the Samsung Pay function as European models do not support Samsung Pay in Switzerland.
