No - not possible. You habe to link with a hotspot.

It is on my 13 inch 2018 MacBook Pro. So I think on yours which is newer and should have USB-C ports, it should work.
We happen to have the two units here, it looks like the distance between the sockets is 1-2mm bigger on the XPS. Unfortunately, I can't confirm it with a ruler.
I have the latest Macbookpro and it works. Unfortunately I do not know anything more
