BPI-R3 - Router Board with MediaTek MT7986 Quad-Core ARM A53

The Banana Pi BPI-R3 Router Board is equipped with a MediaTek MT7986 (Filogic 830) Quad-Core ARM A53 and an MT7531A chip design. It features 2 GB of DDR RAM and 8 GB of eMMC flash storage. The BPI-R3 is a powerful open-source router development board that supports WiFi6, with 2.4 GHz WiFi via MT7975N and 5 GHz WiFi via MT7975P. Additionally, it offers two SFP 2.5 GbE ports and one 5 GbE network port.

The MT7986 (Filogic 830) integrates four ARM Cortex-A53 cores with speeds of up to 2 GHz, providing computing power of up to 18,000 DMIPs and 6 Gbps dual 4x4 WiFi6 connectivity. It is equipped with two 2.5G Ethernet interfaces and serial peripheral interfaces (SPI). The integrated hardware acceleration engine of the Filogic 830 enables fast and reliable WiFi offloading and wireless network connectivity. Furthermore, the chip supports MediaTek FastPath™ technology, which is ideal for gaming, AR/VR, and other low-latency applications.

WiFi6 offers many advantages over its predecessors, including lower latency, greater bandwidth capacity, and faster transmission rates. Wireless network devices that support the 6 GHz band primarily use a 160 MHz wideband channel and an uncongested 6 GHz bandwidth to enable multi-gigabit transmission and low-latency WiFi connections, providing a reliable wireless network for media streaming, gaming, AR/VR, and other applications.
