The Zoom H2n features five different configurable microphones (Mid-Side Stereo, 90° X/Y Stereo, 2-channel, and 4-channel recording modes), as well as a mic/line input, and can record either MP3 at up to 320 Kb/s or WAV at a maximum 24bit/96kHz quality onto an SD card. The Zoom H2n is a handheld recorder that expands on the versatile capabilities of its predecessors. Two standard AA batteries provide up to 20 hours of operation, and power can also be supplied via USB. By separately recording a mid and side signal, it is possible to determine the stereo width of the audio material in advance on the Zoom H2n.
