I can only agree with the previous speaker. Only works with Galaxy smartphones and tablets within the Samsung SmartThings network. The Galaxy smartphone should have UWB (Ultra Wideband) for short-range search.

The smart tag system works by proximity to Galaxy phones. It does not have a GPS chip. If you're near Galaxy phones, you can locate it. Dana the desert, in the middle of nowhere, you won't see it.

I can well imagine it working in Africa in the same way as in Europe.
