No, but the adapter should work without it (at least all other HDMI to VGA adapters I have used do). I think it's more that the micro-USB port provides "power" than serves as an input. But I can't find any real documentation on this anywhere. Nor is it described anywhere on the manufacturer's site or in the user manual (https://www.digitus.info/en...). But other questions about this product here on Digitec have also been answered to the effect that no additional power supply is needed.
