Would this camera be recommendable as a beginner in the short film world (not vlogger or similar)? If not, what would be an alternative up to 1000?
The camera is highly recommended, but it is important to note that it does not have an integrated image stabiliser. The optimal solution here would be to buy an additional gimbal, e.g. Dji Ronin SC or Moza AirCross 2 etc. If you are over budget, I would go for the A6300, which is much cheaper including the gimbal and also has excellent image quality. The best thing to do is to watch a few videos on YouTube.
Personally, I am very satisfied with the 6400, especially the focus is always right. (Eye detection perfect!).
My setup: Sony a6400 with Sigma 16mm and DJI Ronin SC. I can only recommend it.
