The artistic concentric ornamentation of "Valencia" recalls the intoxicatingly opulent motifs of Andalusian mosaic tiles. Magnificently patterned tiles were brought from the Orient to southern Spain during the Moorish rule and still adorn the walls and floors of countless buildings today. Unlike their vividly colored counterparts, the "Valencia" designs present themselves in velvety subtle earth tones. Because these are applied using a stamping technique, small variations in color intensity and/or decorative expression are inevitable, meaning that no piece is exactly the same as another; rather, each is a unique creation in its own right.
