It depends on the mattress, for me it is rather thick and hard, so I don't feel any difference between this bed and a slatted frame. But with a softer or thinner mattress, you could feel a difference.

For me, it's comfortable. If someone likes to lie on a hard surface, it's great. But if you prefer a box spring bed or waterbed, it might not be for you.
