Question about LaMetric Smart Time

It's a really cool gadget, but the price is astronomically high. In my opinion, as an alarm clock it has rather mediocre functionality, but as a "smart ticker" it is absolutely ingenious and can be networked with a wide range of online services! Despite searching in various places, I have unfortunately not found a similar/comparable product. Question: Does anyone know of a similar device that is suitable as a "Smart Ticker" for displaying information that the device fetches from the Internet (or that can be made available/managed remotely)? If possible with a slightly larger display, or on whose display more information can be shown? If not, maybe an app that does the same on a mobile phone/tablet? I haven't found anything yet that can be managed remotely. But I would definitely prefer a hardware solution like the Smart Atoms from LaMetric. Any tips?

I have had the La Metric for some time now. But I use it mainly as a mega-expensive desktop watch. The information display with ticker is so lousy that it's only enough for very simple things. This is where I see the biggest limitation of the part. In terms of software, a lot is possible, especially with the IFTTT integration. I got another Kickstarter part called DISPLIO. http://displ.io/ Since it uses an e-Ink paper as a display, it is also possible to read very small letters. However, they didn't use the best e-paper. On the other hand, it only cost a good quarter of the LaMetric. In terms of software, it has an open interface, but integration has not progressed as far as with LaMetric. If you want to program, but certainly passable. I still have a project in planning to build such a part with a two-colour e-Ink Diskplay myself with a Rasperry Pi or Arduino. There are some already published projects on the internet that are similar. One function would be, for example, a status display for the next bus that drives in front of the door. This can be done with VBZ or Bern Mobil, for example, as they have an interface for this.

What a pity that only the symbols on the left are shown in colour on the right, the time is only shown in white.
It would have been nice if the clock time could also be displayed in colour, but otherwise it's a great part.

I bought the LaMetric about a year ago and am very satisfied with it. Sure, the display is a bit small and it's also a bit expensive... but I wouldn't put it down. It also has a style argument. If you're looking for an alternative with a larger display, I'd recommend a Raspberry pi with a 7" display in a nice case. This is then also customisable down to the last detail and you can do whatever you want (depending on how well you like IT.) There are also ready-made images that you can play on the Raspi, just ask google.
