What are the exact dimensions. I have a sloping roof and need to know how wide the top box is and generally how high the shelves are. Is it possible to place a folder?

The outer dimensions of the top square are 35 x 35 cm.
A folder fits very well in terms of height. You still have approx. 2 cm free at the top.
