La Cintura di Orione, designed by Richard Sapper, is aimed at private gourmets, meaning all lovers of an intelligent and creative kitchen, driven by their culinary passion and professional kitchen equipment. For this reason, most of the pots are made from a special two-ply material (thick-walled copper on the outside, stainless steel 18/10 on the inside). These pots offer professional cooking properties and retain the advantages of copper in terms of even heat distribution and conductivity for the modern kitchen, as their interior is lined with hygienic stainless steel.

After eight years of development, Alessi presented in 1986 one of the most lengthy and demanding design projects: the La Cintura di Orione cookware series. The goal was to develop a series of high-quality pots that meet the needs, desires, and craftsmanship of various cooking and purchasing segments.

Who could provide better advice for such a project than professional chefs? Thus, Alessi became the first company to pursue collaboration between manufacturers and chefs. Under the guidance of renowned restaurateurs and chefs, led by Gualtiero Marchesi, Richard Sapper designed a high-quality set of pans, pots, casseroles, and sautés, which is now produced in several variations.

The original version for the private gourmet was made from thick-walled copper with a stainless steel coating. Unmatched in its conductivity, this, according to Alberto Alessi, "holds a top position in the industry.".
