Depending on the application, the optimal circulation cycle depends on various factors: fish stock, aquatic plants, sunlight exposure, and desired water clarity. Naturally, other components of the filtration circuit may need to be coordinated accordingly.

The following guidelines apply:
Koi pond/fish pond:
• 1 cycle every 3 hours
• 2 circulations per hour (without planting and with high fish stock)

Garden pond/plant pond:
In a pond without fish stock, less circulation is necessary. A daily circulation can be used as a guideline to enrich the pond water with oxygen and keep the water moving.

Swimming pond:
Here, the circulation cycle heavily depends on the planting and personal expectations. The upper limit is set at 1 time every 2–3 hours, while the lower limit is "no circulation."
