How do you connect this set to your water tap? There does not seem to be a connector for included for a normal garden tap.

No, unfortunately the connection to the water tap is not included. You would also need the following articles:
one of Gardena Hahnverbinder
two of this: Gardena Schlauchverbinder 13mm/15mm
And also a hose. You could use for example this one: Gardena Comfort flex Schlauch 15m

EDIT: 30.03 There is a connecting pipe in this set with which you can connect the starter kit to a water tap.
