Product details
There is probably no other tank that arouses such curiosity. It is surrounded by a mysterious aura, and the facts blend with the legends that have grown over the years. The Panzerkampfwagen VIII "MAUS" is a prototype of a German super-heavy tank from World War II. It was the heaviest and largest tank ever built, weighing about 188 tons. The project was carried out between 1942 and 1944. Only two incomplete prototypes were built and never entered service. In April 1945, the Red Army captured both abandoned Maus prototypes located at the Kummersdorf military training area. They were assembled into one vehicle using the hull of the first prototype and the turret of the second. This hybrid remains one of the main attractions of the Tank Museum in Kubinka near Moscow to this day.
The Panzer VIII "MAUS" is a very special model in the COBI collection. It has been built from the beginning at a scale of 1:28 and measures 39 cm in length. Removable covers on the turret and hull provide access to the detailed interior. A removable engine, opening hatches, movable tracks, and functioning track traction are additional advantages of this set. The tank presented during its construction at the factory is coated with high-quality prints that do not wear off even with intensive use.
"MAUS" is a must-have for enthusiasts of history, armor, and the mysteries of World War II. The beautiful and massive model will perfectly complement any tank collection and become its centerpiece. Thanks to the intuitive instructions, assembly is straightforward, but due to the unique construction with interior details, a variety of elements, and the time required to build the set, we recommend this model for slightly older builders.
