Includes glue, brush, and main colors. The L-1049 Super Constellation was developed from the L-749 Constellation and introduced in 1950. The conversion of the L-749 represented the largest extension ever made to a propeller aircraft. By adding fuselage sections, the length was increased by 5.59 meters. Other significant changes included the overall reinforcement of the airframe, rectangular windows, larger tanks, and the use of new engines. The first L-1049 was put into service by Eastern on December 15, 1951. The largest "Super Connie" fleets were operated by TWA and Eastern Air Lines.
