As a spirit of warm and gusty air, the Sunlighter Whirlwind swirls leaves and dust into small dust devils, snatches unsecured objects, and sometimes—out of fun, anger, or simply by the nature of his being—howls across the island, toppling trees and sweeping branches, pebbles, shells, and bird nests around. Some Dahan interpret his appearance as a good omen for embarking on journeys. Others have tried to entrust him with messages—with mixed success, as he tends to play tricks and intentionally jumbles the words of the messages.

The Sunlighter Whirlwind is an additional spirit for Spirit Island with low complexity. He can move explorers from just-discovered areas, thus preventing construction there. He is weaker when dealing with villages and towns. He can place a maximum of one presence per turn. If he focuses on his energy track, he will likely neglect his permanent ability. Alternatively, he can increase the number of cards he can play each round and attempt to execute all the effects of his permanent ability.
