Dark cults, strange monsters, dark secrets – all of this awaits players in the multiple award-winning pen-and-paper role-playing game Cthulhu. Together, a group of players embarks on a fantastic adventure led by a game master. While the basic parameters of the world are predefined, the progression of the story is determined by the group's actions. Successes and failures are decided by dice rolls. Players also determine whether a character, referred to as an Investigator, is more courageous and daring or rather cautious and prudent, as well as what other character traits they possess during character creation.

With the starter box, entering the dark horror world of the Cthulhu mythos becomes even easier. The box contains three books in total: the solo adventure Alone Against the Flames, introductory rules, and adventures, as well as pre-made Investigators for immediate play, blank character sheets, a screen including quick rules for game masters, role-playing dice, and handouts for an even more atmospheric gaming experience. After the members of the gaming group have individually played through the solo adventure in printed form or as a downloadable PDF and familiarized themselves with the initial rules, the group will experience three eerie adventures together with varying player counts.
