The Corsair is considered one of the US Navy's best fighter planes in World War II. Feared by the Japanese enemy, who nicknamed it the Whispering Death, it fought in the Pacific theater of war from 1943 to 1945, achieving record-breaking success. The Corsair's concentrated firepower consisted of six 12.7mm Browning machine guns. This new kit features a refined shape, textured surfaces with recessed sheet metal joints, and a detailed R-2800 twin radial engine. The cooling flap ring can be optionally closed or open, and it includes a detailed cockpit with an instrument panel, two auxiliary tanks, a movable propeller, and detailed landing gear. It authentically represents the following versions: Vought F4U-1A Corsair, VMF-214 Squadron, U.S. Marine Corps, Vella Lavella, Solomon Islands, December 1943, and Vought F4U-1A Corsair, VF-17 Squadron, U.S. Navy, Bougainville, Solomon Islands, February 1944.
