This head protection is worthy of a Black Knight: Made from black steel rings in a 4 in 1 pattern, the chain coif exudes a martial darkness. Chainmail was both an effective protection and a status symbol for fighting nobles and wealthy knights in the Middle Ages, as not every fighter could afford this elaborate type of armor. The black coloring of our chain coif, achieved through the use of blackened steel rings, enhances the intimidating effect of this historical headgear. The rings, linked in the classic 4 in 1 pattern, are made from 1.7 mm thick blackened steel wire and have an outer diameter of 1.25 cm. A rectangular area of approximately 17 cm in width and 12 cm in height is left open for the wearer's face. The total weight is 2.2 kg. We recommend keeping the chain coif permanently oiled to prevent corrosion.
