80 years of innovation and tradition In 1932, Wharfedale was founded by Gilbert Briggs, who developed the first loudspeakers in the basement of his home in Ilkley, southern England. This tranquil little town became the birthplace of one of the most famous loudspeaker manufacturers in the world; a synonym for quality and innovation!

Since 1996 Wharfedale has been a member of the International Audio Group, IAG, which includes the traditional brands Quad, Mission and Audiolab. Wharfedale has always been at the forefront of loudspeaker development and is now regarded as one of the most creative and technically advanced manufacturers on the market.
