Eight-year-old overclocking record broken with Core i9-13900K
New records in extreme overclocking are commonplace. But one of them has lasted a long time: the highest clock frequency ever. The overclocking professional Elmor has now broken it.
Intel's new Core i9-13900K is fast. Damn fast. That's what Samuel Buchmann found in his review. However, he can only dream of clock frequencies like those achieved by extreme overclocker Elmor: he overclocked the CPU to 8812.85 MHz. This beats the eight-year-old record of 8722.78 MHz set by the AMD FX 8370.

Of course, such a record is not possible with conventional cooling. Elmor cooled the CPU with liquid nitrogen. Liquid nitrogen is the overclocker's speciality, as colleague Martin Jud was able to discover in an interview with him back in 2019.
