Fujifilm opens lens mount for third-party manufacturers
In future, it will be possible for third-party manufacturers to build lenses with autofocus for the Fujifilm system. Tokina has already announced three models for this year.
Fujifilm is opening up the X-mount to third-party manufacturers. Toshihisa Iida, the head of Fujifilm's camera division, confirmed this to dpreview.com. Companies such as Sigma, Tamron and Tokina can therefore also produce their lenses for the Fujifilm lens mount.
There are already lenses from third-party manufacturers for Fujifilm. However, these have to manage without electronic communication with the camera. This means, among other things, that they do not have autofocus.
In interviews, camera manufacturers hardly ever reveal anything new about their future plans. In fact, this information is not entirely new. In a press release from the beginning of March, Tokina also held out the prospect of three Fujifilm lenses, among other things. Accordingly, three fixed focal length lenses will be released in autumn, all with a speed of f/1.4 and focal lengths of 23, 33 and 56 millimetres respectively.

Since there are already similar lenses from Fujifilm, the difference could be in the prices. However, nothing is known about this yet.
