Fujifilm X-T4: image stabilizer, improved autofocus and more battery power

The X-T4 is the first T-series camera to have built-in image stabilisation. Autofocus should be much better than its predecessor. Other points, such as the video function, have also been optimised.
The X-H1 was until now the only Fujifilm camera with in-camera image stabilisation (IBIS).Fujifilm's only camera with in-camera image stabilisation (IBIS). But due to its lower price and more practical dimensions, the X-T3 was selling much better.
With the X-T4, the T-series now also has a model with image stabilisation. The camera is only slightly larger than the T3. In fact, the 5-axis image stabiliser is 30% smaller and 20% lighter than that of the X-H1. However, according to Fujifilm, it is more powerful. It is supposed to recognise vibrations better. This progress is made possible by the use of magnets instead of springs.

Advances in autofocus and video
The second major innovation concerns autofocus. Fujifilm says it has massively improved face and eye recognition, and also offers tracking with a higher success rate. For example, the X-T4 can track subjects at up to 8 frames per second in burst mode. If you can do without the viewfinder image for a short period, you'll even enjoy 15 frames per second.
The camera records Full HD video at a high frame rate of 240P for 10x slow motion footage. You can now record video to two cards at the same time, giving you a backup for safety. The MIC socket on the X-T4 can also be used as a LINE socket. Fujifilm has also redesigned the handling of videos: the menu and Q quick menu now have a special video mode. F-log recordings are already displayed pre-corrected.

It's better and has longer battery life
The X-T4 uses a new battery with 1.5 times the capacity. This increases runtime from 390 to 500 shots according to CIPA measurement methods. An optional grip holds two additional batteries. When the battery is discharged, the camera automatically switches to the next battery without switching off or interrupting recording in progress.
The screen on the T3, the previous model, could be folded upwards. The T4's screen, meanwhile, swivels freely, offering even greater flexibility. The viewfinder is equipped with a lockable eyecup.

The shutter is designed to last for 300,000 releases, twice as long as its predecessor. It is also quieter. The T4 also features a new film simulation mode called "ETERNA Bleach Bypass". In this film-era visual effect, colour and black-and-white images overlap. The result is a high-contrast, grainy image with reduced saturation and dynamic range.
You can pre-order the Fujifilm X-T4 in silver and black now. It's expected to be available by the end of April 2020.
