With the Px8, Bowers & Wilkins presents its latest over-ear headphones, which are said to deliver very good sound with Active Noise Cancelling.
The Px8 had been announced by Bowers & Willkins for some time and was now presented with all the details. The over-ear headphones are the new flagship and the most expensive headphone model of the British manufacturer to date.
For good sound, B&W has installed 40-mm drivers with carbon-fibre diaphragms that are positioned at an angle in the ear cups. This is to ensure the same distance to the user's ear everywhere and to create a particularly spatial and precise sound stage.

The headband is made of aluminium and the cover of nappa leather. B&W has also incorporated shiny cut-outs around the ear cups.
The integrated Digital Signal Processing (DSP) can handle 24-bit audio from popular streaming services via Bluetooth, according to Bowers & Willkins. 24-bit audio means higher resolution than CD quality (16-bit). Whether the difference can be perceived, however, has been disputed for some time. For Bluetooth transmission, the manufacturer uses the aptX Adaptive codec - but the Px8 does not support aptX Lossless.
.
The manufacturer does not specify which streaming services are supported for Hi-Res sound. However, according to B&W, Deezer, Qobuz and Tidal are available in the app and the tracks can be played directly.

For control on the headphones, B&W relies on buttons on the ear cups and a slider. With the introduction of the Px8, Bowers & Wilkins' music app is also set to be revamped.

By the way, the Px8's little brother, the Px7 S2, has been around for a while. In terms of design, it is very similar to the Px8.

Testing devices and gadgets is my thing. Some experiments lead to interesting insights, others to demolished phones. I’m hooked on series and can’t imagine life without Netflix. In summer, you’ll find me soaking up the sun by the lake or at a music festival.
