Playstation DualSense Edge: Sony shows new high-end controller

Sony is showing a new wireless Pro controller with additional buttons on the back and customisable controls at Gamescom 2022. However, Playstation fans will have to wait a little longer before they can buy the DualSense Edge.
The new, wireless high-end controller for the Playstation 5, the DualSense Edge, offers everything that the normal DualSense controller can do. But in addition, there are countless customisation options and two interchangeable buttons on the back, where the user can choose between a lever and a semi-circular attachment.
A new Fn button can be used to call up a control centre, which is used to adjust not only the volume of the game and chat, but also all the controls. Here you can reassign or deactivate button inputs and even determine how the haptic feedback of the triggers should be - i.e. configure the resistance and the dead zone.
Everything you configure can be saved in control profiles, so you can go straight from the racing game setting to the one for shooters. Apart from that, Sony is also thinking about ergonomics and wear and tear. On the one hand, the gamepad buttons and stick heads are interchangeable; three different variants are offered - one normal, and two that are more curved outwards and inwards respectively. On the other hand, the entire analogue stick module can also be replaced should the stick wear out at some point.
The new DualSense Edge is delivered with the three analogue stick head variants, the two back button attachments and a fabric-covered USB-C cable, which is supposed to lock into the gamepad and hold better thanks to a special connector. Everything comes together in a case. Sony did not comment on battery life, price or release date. More information will follow in the coming months.
