The three new lenses deliver what vloggers have been missing: A large image detail and features for video recording.

Sony introduces three new wide-angle lenses today. All three are for the smaller APS-C format, i.e. for cameras of the Sony Alpha 6000 series as well as the ZV-E10. Two of these lenses are fixed focal lengths, one is a zoom lens.

Wide-angle lens with power zoom

The most exciting new addition is the "E PZ 10-20mm F4.0 G OSS." This lens has a Power Zoom, which is a motor-driven zoom. This allows for a smooth change in framing when shooting video. The motor is quiet, and the lens does not extend when zooming. The ZV-E10 can be zoomed using the rocker switch on the shutter release, just like a compact camera.

A zoom motor was previously only available on the 16-50mm lens. However, this does not provide enough wide angle for vloggers. The image crop corresponds to 24 to 75 millimeters in full-frame format and is further cropped in the ZV-E10 by active video image stabilizer and 4K.

Thus, the new 10-20mm closes exactly the gap that was painful for vloggers in combination with the ZV-E10 camera. With the close focus distance of 20 centimeters, a vlogger can also hold objects very close to the camera. For this, the ZV-E10 offers a special presentation autofocus.

11 millimeters with f/1.8 speed

The "E 15mm F1.4 G" is a fixed focal length with 11 millimeters - which corresponds to about 16 millimeters in full format. The advantage over the zoom lens is the higher speed: f/1.8 versus f/4. At 181 grams, this lens is similarly light as the zoom lens. It exhibits very little focus breathing, according to Sony, has quiet linear focus motors, and linear manual focus: focus always changes the same amount over the same distance, regardless of speed.

15-millimeter lens with aperture ring

At f/1.4, the new "E 15mm F1.4 G" is even faster. Its special feature is the aperture ring. The click stop can be deactivated in order to realize infinitely variable aperture for videos.

Otherwise, this lens has all the advantages of the 11-millimeter lens, such as the quiet, linear focus motor, the low weight (219 grams) and the short closest focusing distance (20 centimeters).
