Star Wars: The Bad Batch: checking out Disney's upcoming animated series

Disney has commissioned a new Lucasfilm animated series: «Star Wars: The Bad Batch». The series will premiere in 2021 on Disney+.

Looks like the tale of the Clone Warrior Special Unit introduced in the final season of Star Wars: The Clone Wars is going to continue. Because Disney has announced that a new animation series has been ordered from Lucasfilm: «Star Wars: The Bad Batch».

The series will premiere in 2021 on Disney+. Disney hasn't yet revealed the exact date.

«The Bad Batch» – a Clone Wars spin-off series

We don't know much about the story. Only that the show takes place immediately after the Clone Wars and follows the four clones created by genetic experiments on their journey through a rapidly changing galaxy. This is the Bad Batch.

At the same time, each Bad Batch member has their own extraordinary ability which makes them a particularly effective soldier. Following the Clone Wars, they'll embark on daring mercenary missions while simultaneously seeking a new destiny.

Dave Filoni, «The Clone Wars» and «Rebels» showrunner as well as director and screenwriter for «The Mandalorian», will again be on board to realise this vision. But only as an executive producer this time. The showrunner role will be taken over by Brad Rau, who previously directed «Star Wars: Rebels» and «Star Wars: Resistance» on occasion. Lead author will be Jennifer Corbett, who previously wrote isolated episodes for «Star Wars: Resistance».
