Teddy bears from celebrities: Steiff unique items for Unicef

Translation: machine translated

120 years ago, the first Steiff teddy was born. A charity auction is being held to mark the occasion. For this, famous people have created their likeness as a teddy bear.

Steiff is the world's best-known brand of soft toys - which is not surprising, since they invented the teddy bear 120 years ago. Founder Margarete Steiff was a remarkable woman. Despite a severe disability, she built up an internationally successful company. And she did so at a time when women tended to be assigned other tasks. Thanks to the support of her family and her environment, however, she was able to lead a life of freedom and self-determination. True to her credo "only the best is good enough for children", the company would like to make a contribution to the promotion of children worldwide to celebrate her anniversary. To this end, Steiff has invited famous personalities to design a teddy bear in their likeness.

Together with fashion design students from the University of Design Pforzheim, the bears were designed and specially dressed. The bear is made by hand from an alternative hemp material, is 40 centimetres high and has the famous button in its ear. In addition, the bear's paws bear the signature of the famous personality whose likeness held out for the teddy.

The following teddy bears will be auctioned on United Charity to mark the anniversary:

  • FC Bayern Munich
  • Hugo Boss
  • Chopard
  • Hiroshi Fujiwara
  • Toni Garrn
  • Ann-Kathrin and Mario Götze
  • Herbert Grönemeyer
  • Frida Kahlo Corporation
  • Ronan Keating
  • Karolina Kurkova
  • Messika Paris
  • Nico Rosberg
  • Victoria Swarovski
  • Gorden Wagener for Mercedes-Benz
  • Emma and Bruce Willis

The auctions will take place between 3 November and 15 December 2022. Proceeds will benefit Unicef's work to support children and families affected by the war in Ukraine and the Let Us Learn initiative. An initiative that promotes access to quality education for disadvantaged children in five countries: Afghanistan, Bangladesh, Liberia, Madagascar and Nepal.
