Product details
Prince Hermann von Pückler-Muskau (1785-1871) - dandy, landscape architect, and writer - left behind an extensive literary work, which was first managed by Pückler's editor and close friend Karl August Varnhagen von Ense and later by his niece Ludmilla Assing-Grimelli. From the texts that the prince left her, Assing-Grimelli edited a nine-volume edition of his correspondence and diaries, which she published between 1873 and 1876. Even today, these texts form an important foundation for Pückler research. The fifth volume contains correspondence with Alexander von Humboldt, Lady Hester Stanhope, and Heinrich Heine. It also includes part of the correspondence with Pückler's wife Lucie and a collection of letters from the prince's youth. This is a reprint of the original edition from 1874.
