The image quality is on a good to very good level. At all focal lengths and apertures, the Canon 24 - 70 mmF 2.8 EF L II Usm delivers an excellent image centre. In addition, stopping down offers improved performance in the corners and at the edges of the frame. Furthermore, at open aperture, excellent detail is provided, especially as it also makes a very good impression in terms of mechanics and operation...
The fast lens not only zooms well and quietly, but is also excellently finished. The rubber coating of the lens makes it very easy to operate and the edges are also mostly well reproduced, although this is not always 100% successful at open aperture.
Operating the lens turns out to be very easy, as it is very easy to grip and you feel very comfortable with it after a short period of familiarisation. Although vignettes are clearly visible at open aperture, the lens does a first-class job overall, although the price is steep.
The universal zoom delivers excellent performance, even outperforming some of Canon's fixed zooms. In addition, it is smaller and lighter than its predecessor and hardly has any weaknesses. In the end, the zoom is an absolute recommendation.
